What Happened last July...... ;-)

This chick has been busy! My needles have been clicking away! Of course, I have a life, so knitting is not all I do, as nobody pays me for it. I have several projects in progress and i can't wait to finish them and show you. I have a winter set almost in the finishing pile, now that summer is clearly here in Texas. (Why is it that scarves take the longest time to finish?!?!?!) I have a cute little night gown for myself. I have made a couple of dish cloths for myself and my sister. And, I will start a bassinet liner for when the time comes for Tyler and I to create our own family, which isn't any time soon, I assure you.

So, I know by now, after hearing me ramble (with no pictures, I might add) you are dying to know what happened last July. Well, apparently a lot of my friends decided April/May were good months to become parents. (If you have to live in the oppresive southern summer heat eight months of the year, you might as well have fun, right?) So, it's here that I find myself wondering what to do for my friends having babies. I don't like just buying things, because that takes almost no thought when you use the registry and well, since my love language is gift giving (read the book The Seven Love Languages, you will be glad you did) I always want to go over the top just to show people how much I love them. Which, also lands me in trouble quite often because I ALWAYS underestimate exactly how much time something will take me to complete. So, back to my pondering. Blankets are too time consuming, some people don't want to know their baby's gender, I don't know decorating schemes, yadda yadda......enter PINTREST! I know, you are not suprised in the least bit. But, last month I finally decided to see what the fuss was all about (if you know me, you really wouldn't be surprised that I am usually always the last one to jump on the band wagon). Oh. my. gosh. What a wonderful, beautiful, yet awful thing some guy came up with to help others get in touch with their creative side and cause those of us who are decisionally challenged to explode with all the shiny possibilities. Searching throught their knitting posts, I found the cutest pattern (nope. not gonna tell, some of the future mommas read this blog) but it was for the wrong season. Hence, this next project will be the first pintrest alchemy! A touch of pintrest, but mostly me. Pictures to come, as soon as they are finished and received! It will be awesome! I promise.

So, in other news my grandpa is starting his fifth round of chemo tomorrow. He is feeling the ill effects more often and for longer, as the doctor told him he would. He has one more round after this one. Thank you all for your prayers and support. The chemo is working and beating the cancer back for now. Gramps had a CT done after the second treatment and it showed that the primary tumor had shrunk by about 50%. That is really good news and a really good response. After his sixth treatment he will have another PET scan and we will talk about what is next. Likely, it will be a low-dose whole brain radiation to prevent any cancer seeds in his brain from growing. SCLC likes to spread to the brain and bones first. So, please continue to keep us in your prayer as this is all good news (so far), but we are by no means finished with this.

*Authors note: Please don't feel offended if you received only a registry gift (I like registries, I really do! I had three for my wedding) It is likely I either didn't have time to make you something or I didn't find the perfect thing to make. Don't worry. You will get something, someday.
